Get your feet on the ground on a Honda CRF300L or CRF300LS. This is a brand-new original Honda seat, hand-shaped to sit lower than stock: about 2" lower on the CRF300L and about 1" lower on the LS. It doesn't fit the Rally.

Why we make them

We developed these seats after my wife nearly gave up on her Rally because it was too tall for her. She was new to off-road riding and felt unsafe on side hills and slippery ground where she couldn't touch down. A lowering link helped, but she wanted it lower. We tried one of these seats and she now loves her Rally.

Video

The video was filmed with a CRF250L seat, which is thicker, so we can remove about 2.5" of foam from it. CRF300 seats are a little thinner, so we remove about 2" to keep a good balance of comfort and height.

FAQ

Will this fit my CRF300L Rally?

No. The Rally has its own lowered seat.

Should I get a lowered seat or a lowering link?

A lowering link changes the suspension geometry. The bike gets a little more stable in a straight line, but the front end tends to push through corners on gravel and loose dirt. You won't notice it on pavement, and most newer off-road riders won't push hard enough to notice, but experienced riders usually do. Some riders use both, as we did.

Is it less comfortable than the stock seat?

A little. We picked a balance between comfort and a real drop in height, and a few reviews mention the firmer feel. Riding off-road, where you stand up often, you'll hardly notice. On a couple of hundred miles of pavement, you will.

How can I tell if the drop is enough for me?

Stack some lumber or bricks on both sides of the bike, as high as the drop you're considering, and rest your feet on them while seated. It gives you a good sense of how the bike will feel after the change.

I ride hard off-road. Is it too firm?

There's still about 1.5" of foam where you sit, so normal adventure riding is fine. If you often get airborne, some landings may feel firm.
